On Perspective, and Resurrection

(Easter is mostly over, and my newsfeed is awash in scrubbed faces, pouffy dresses, and coordinating outfits-of which I am a willing participant, don’t get me wrong. But there is still time for a meditation on Resurrection Sunday, because truthfully we celebrate year round. Written last Sunday, technically). I’m tucked in the corner of a wooden pew in a small, brick-clad Anglican church in Knoxville, TN. My children, my wild ones, make quiet reflection an elusive, tantalizing goal on Sunday mornings....

Resurrection Day 2016

Happy Resurrection Day. I’ve written this before, but I need reminding. I measure our life often times by the Before and the After. And oh friends, the after is often times a hard place to rest in. But wouldn’t you know the in between is bridged by a blood-stained cross. And the Story is told across sixty-six books and God-breathed words and Truth is spilled out on the pages and whispered into my broken heart.  And the after never looks...

Tell Me Your Story

On Hope

It is told in Genesis, this story of life come lately, of faith, of promise, and of hope. Then retold again in Romans as a reminder of faith, and the grace He provides to partake.  “Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to...

A Sacrifice of Thanksgiving

It’s the Sunday post-Thanksgiving and we are on the road back to our home. I am tucked up under Wee Man’s Star Wars blanket meditating on the gift of this weekend with my parents, sisters, and their families. It’s easy to clutch my coffee and look at the good life we’ve been given, offering my heartfelt thanks to a God who has blessed us so. It is infinitely more difficult to return to the extraordinary mundane and continue in a posture...

Legacy … and a lot of sisters.

So this, these women …. truth-speaking, loud-laughing, chaos-inducing, grace-loving women. (Always from left to right …. ) My Auntie J. and my mother …. this is pose ….  …. aaaaaannndd this is real.    My momma’s girls …. baby sister G., yours truly, and big sister L. (…. birth order, not actual size ….)  Truly my favorite women in the entire world.  And also my baby mamma. Literally. At least for a year.  Auntie J. and her offspring.  More sisters...
